Nyaka’s Learning & Opportunity pillar creates a lifelong pathway for children and communities in rural Uganda, from inclusive, wellbeing-centred education and accessible libraries to vocational or university opportunities and alumni leadership. By supporting children most at risk, expanding access to books and learning spaces, and connecting graduates as mentors and role models, Nyaka helps learners stay in school, build confidence and skills, and ultimately contribute back to their communities.

Our education program contributes to the realization of these UN Sustainable Development Goals
Education
Nyaka’s Education programme delivers inclusive, quality schooling from nursery through secondary level, with pathways into vocational training and university for those who are ready. Our schools don’t just teach; they combine rigorous learning and play, with wellbeing support, so that every child who walks through our doors has the stability and encouragement they need to stay, learn, and grow. Since the programme began, 290+ graduates have gone on to build careers and businesses, and today, 80% of all Nyaka graduates are employed or self-sufficient.
Libraries and Learning Spaces
Nyaka’s Libraries & Learning Spaces programme brings community and school-linked libraries, book clubs, and mobile library services to children, youth, grandmothers, and wider community members who would otherwise have little access to information or reading materials. These spaces are more than collections of books; they are safe, welcoming environments that build literacy, ignite curiosity, and open up a world of opportunity. The demand speaks for itself: satellite and mobile library visits grew from a modest start to 1,680 in 2025 alone.
Alumni and Leadership Network
The Alumni & Leadership Network connects former Nyaka learners into a growing community of mentors, advocates, and philanthropists who give back to the next generation. Through peer support, mentorship, and lived-experience leadership, alumni create a self-sustaining cycle of opportunity. What began with a handful of graduates in 2014 has grown to 293 alumni across Uganda working as doctors, teachers, engineers, and entrepreneurs, to mention but a few.
