81 finalist students supported by Beautiful World Canada (BWC) under the Nyaka Education Program gathered at Makerere University for an intensive Graduation Preparation Workshop. These students, pursuing degrees and diplomas from Nkumba University, Makerere University, and Kyambogo University, came together to acquire essential job-seeking skills, career insights, and entrepreneurship knowledge preparing them for life beyond graduation.
The transition from university to the workforce can be daunting, but Beautiful World Canada is committed to ensuring that students are well-equipped for success. Brenda Aharizira, the Project Coordinator, emphasized the importance of the workshop, stating:
“The workshop is designed to equip students with the necessary tools to succeed in their careers. We also provide entrepreneurship skills as a solution to unemployment for those who may not secure immediate employment.”
This initiative is part of BWC’s holistic approach to education going beyond tuition support to provide mentorship, life skills training, internships, and graduate preparation programs.
One of the workshop’s highlights was an engaging session facilitated by Diana Muhairwe, a Certified John Maxwell Coach, Trainer, Speaker, DISC Consultant, and CEO of Blühen Solutions. Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
“Today’s session was an interesting one. I love working with young people because they represent 70% of Uganda’s population, and there’s so much hope for our nation when we empower them.”
Muhairwe commended the students for their enthusiasm, positive mindset, and willingness to learn. She particularly enjoyed leading a hands-on CV-writing exercise, where students created practical CVs, and a self-discovery session, where they explored their strengths and weaknesses—critical steps in shaping their professional paths.
For 12 years, Beautiful World Canada has partnered with Nyaka to empower vulnerable students, particularly girls, with access to quality education at university and vocational levels. The sponsorship program covers tuition fees, a stipend, accommodation, mentorship, and life skills training, ensuring that students not only graduate but are also well-prepared to thrive in their careers.
As these students step into the next phase of their journey, they do so with confidence, skills, and the support of a global community that believes in their potential.
