Akampurira Elizabeth’s life took a momentous turn when she lost her father at a young age while still in nursery school. The devastating loss left her and her family in a vulnerable position, but her future was forever changed when the Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project took her under their sponsorship.

Nyaka stepped in at a crucial time, ensuring Elizabeth received access to education, support, and the essential scholastic materials she needed. Through Nyaka’s sponsorship, she was given the opportunity to learn, grow, and strive, attending school from nursery up to now, where she is a Senior Four candidate at Nyaka Vocational Secondary School (NVSS).

However, life presented yet another painful challenge.

“While in Primary Two, Elizabeth lost her mother as well,” she narrates.

Orphaned at such a young age, she could have easily been left without hope or direction. But Nyaka remained steadfast in its commitment, not just ensuring she continued her education but also providing the care, support, and mentorship needed for her overall well-being.

Thanks to Nyaka’s unwavering support, Elizabeth has grown in confidence and dares to dream big.

“My dream is to become a journalist,” she says with a smile “and I advocate for change in my community.”

Her resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to those around her, proving that with the right support, no obstacle is too great to overcome.

Elizabeth’s story shows the transformative power of education and the life-changing impact of Nyaka. By investing in vulnerable children across Kanungu, Rukungiri, and Rubanda districts, Nyaka is not only providing education but also fostering hope, resilience, and a brighter future for young leaders like Elizabeth.

With Nyaka’s continued guidance, Elizabeth is well on her way to achieving her dreams. Her journey is one of perseverance, strength, and an unbreakable spirit which is proof that even in the face of adversity, education has the power to change lives.
